Exhibition At a Hospital Hall
"Today" (Moscow Newspaper), July 2, 1995

...The inauguration of the exhibition took place on Thursday at the Republic clinical hospital. Nearly 90 works of little patients of the kidney transplantation department - landscapes, still-lives, works on the Bible themes - are represented now in the hospital temple.

The kidney transplantation department patients are among the most hard ones. Children spend two-three years in the hospital waiting for a donor. It is clear that one-time visits and humanitarian toys are not enough. And father Alexandre Menn was first to understand that. He came to the hospital in 1989 and was taking care of it till the last day of his life. The "Charity" group is keeping on this activity. The group was made by father Alexandre's spiritual children: hospital priest George Chistyakov and a young painter Anna Gnoyenskaya. First, Anna suggested to children to make things out of clay then to draw with pencils and water-colors. Then they began to use pastel and it has become their favorite way to paint. A miracle has come: children that could hardly concentrate themselves on a single subject for some 30 minutes, paint now for several hours in succession. Deprived of normal life of ordinary children, they speak to the world with a piece of paper. And the time has come when playing and dining rooms didn't have enough place for all their works - and that gave an idea to make an exhibition. Its purpose is not to surprise experienced public but to find means to support lives of little painters. Though, some of them are not with us any more...
