Children painting joy "Domovoy" (Moscow magazine), 1999 What do usually children do when they are ill? Most of them are, of course, naughty and cry. Illness is not a sweet thing. Children-patients of the Republic clinical hospital in Moscow are seriously ill. One has blood disease, another - an artificial kidney or problems with other internal organs. But these children don't cry - they paint. They paint like professional artists. And like professionals, they participate in exhibitions. First, an exhibition was held at the hospital, then in the children Surikov Art school. There was even made a film about them on TV. Anna Gnoyenskaya, parishioner of Saint Kosma and Damian church and painter, is teaching children to express in colors the world that the disease makes inaccessible for them. And when a forest and a field where they would like to walk, or a horse they would like to ride appears on a piece of paper, it gives the same joy to the young artists and spectators as if they were true. Flowers on their pictures seem even to smell. And when you look at a small bell-tower, it seems to begin to ring. What secret do the young artists have? They know that God loves them and joy comes to the hospital. This joy helps them not to lose heart in their disease and paint in order to bring joy to other people.
